[if this is a death flag and he turns up dead on friday i will end you, becks. anyway, she takes her coffee and sips at it.]
I think it's possible. I wonder if maybe it's... just watching. Staying out of sight, seeing what we do. It didn't sound like either Tamaki or HK-47 noticed it in the footage you saw, right?
[...but she nods]
Gluttony gave me one when I asked them to fix my hand after the execution. It was actually Extra Serving - the one Mineo mentioned at the last trial. [...] I... already used it, though. The week someone tried to frame Ming-xiong.
[ that is a bit rich coming from you britt britterson. ]
No, it had already vanished when they appeared.
[ hm. ]
So sometimes it's a duplicate power? ... Greed gave me one called the Scarlet Letter, which is what I used to count the votes. I specifically asked for it though, so I don't know if that was a one-off thing, or if it was a power from the other week.
I had a look through the library -- both Oliver Twist and The Scarlett Letter are novels, as it turns out.
[you all collectively banned me from death this game so you already know it's not me.]
I think what you saw on the footage is probably the first anyone has seen of it, instead of just... hearing it...
[hmm.]
I think maybe the Avatars each have a set number of powers, regardless of how they're given out. I got Extra Serving pretty early on, and Mineo got it through doing one of the tasks... Molly and I certainly didn't use Aphrodite on him and White, and while it's possible someone else might have gotten it from a task the same week as us, I have to admit now that it's possible someone may have received it from an Avatar, too.
It wasn't a full clear shot of it, but... yes. It might be. [ ... ] I'll need to let Sasazuka know, among others.
So it could be a case of recycling and reusing powers, but they don't have infinite number to tap into. So the more we find out, the more we can predict what other powers there are out there.
[ ... ]
Although that might mean someone out there has had powers like Oliver Twist and Insomnia since the beginning, which throws everything into new perspective.
It does - but for what it's worth, I think they're likely subject to the same limitations as the weekly powers. When I was given Extra Serving, I only had two weeks to use it, just like the power I got from a task. [...] Mineo also said, we can only have two powers in reserve at once? So if we earn another through a task, someone who already has two has the option of refusing the power from the task.
I wonder if maybe that might be why some people have been quiet about their task powers at the trials...
It still doesn't change the fact that some of the cases we've been trying to solve might have been complicated by the use of someone with a power we didn't know about, or someone just changing their entire appearance or a body part and leaving a false trail. You see what I mean?
[ ... ] Maybe. But there's no punishment for lying about it, other than the risk of being caught out by someone else. I know I've kept my powers quiet for a reason, but not necessarily because I had two of them to hand.
That's definitely a possibility. [a possibility that might account for the times they've voted incorrectly.] Despair was able to confirm that a power was used, last time, so... it might be worth asking in the future.
...although I'm still not convinced one was used in Eleanor's murder. I think they might have been referring to how Harrow's influenced what happened with Misa, since... what she intended to do still counted enough for voting for her to have been correct.
[...]
It could just be they didn't want to get caught if they claimed to have a power they couldn't use... or if someone else claimed to have the same power and the numbers didn't match up. But I think your reason for not saying what it does is important, too.
...I'm kind of relieved it's Sasazuka who has the same power as me from last week. He's hardly likely to try to frame someone else with it.
Someone used a power on Mineo, but I don't think that would've been involved with the murder itself, no. I think we've pinpointed which one so that's not such an issue, just we don't know who it was.
[ he rubs the bridge of his nose and takes a long sip of his coffee. ]
It feels like we get a little closer and run into a bunch of other problems in the process.
[ ha. ]
I'd be good if I could figure out who the other Insomnia users are. The whole ablity is just a big "yikes" if it's being used against us, or to frame someone.
I'd like to know why it was used. He was... certainly loud about it, but he's also focused enough that he wouldn't make an effective distraction for very long. Whoever used it had to have known that...
[she sighs]
...I can ask around about it and see what I find out - most people here are friendly enough with me, at least.
[for some reason, even though sqx is played by me.]
I don't know if many would be willing to admit to a power like that, though.
... Personal grudge? Someone wanted to see him flustered? People do seem weirdly fixated on who he might be attracted to so maybe that was something to do with it. [ exhausting. ]
[ this is britt's hubris. ]
Probably not many. I'm more concerned about who has it and what they might do with it. I'd be less fixated on it if it was in the hands of certain people in this group. Like, say... Mineo. Or Sasazuka.
To be entirely fair, he's also weirdly fixated on who other people might be attracted to. [a beat.] So maybe someone decided to give him a taste of his own medicine? But... I can't think of anyone he's teased who had a power like that.
[which isn't to say she can't think of anyone who would be tempted to do that to him, because uh, she can]
There are better times and places for it than in the middle of a trial, though...
[she nods]
I get what you mean there. Unfortunately, we know both of them don't have it.
Maybe some people just enjoy the chaos in the trial? Even if we're there for a purpose, it's nine hours. It's not a good excuse for it, but something as simple as boredom could be the trigger for it.
[ ... misa was misa was misa. he can't say he's too upset that things turned out how they did. ]
Within reason. If I go around telling everyone what my power does, then it's not so much of a secret. But most people want like for like when talking about powers.
...I don't know that I want to tell just everyone what it does. Sasazuka brought up that if we're attacked, it could be used to implicate our killer - I wouldn't want anyone to be forewarned about it...
I think... four people know mine now. And that's more than I was expecting to tell. So I can't really do the groundwork to find out more unless someone else who knows it is doing the same thing and is willing to compare notes, so to speak.
...well, I'll see what I can find without spilling what mine does. You know, and anyone Sasazuka's told knows, but he's a pretty cautious guy, so I don't think that's too many people.

[ she may have her coffee now. ]
He was... pretty open about things yes. And I can't imagine people would keep quiet about it, so... do people keep missing it?
[ ... ]
Hm. Shi, have you ever received powers from an Avatar here?

Right. And then I'm just more concerned over who has it.
