[ What if they just meet at the bar in every post-execution thread they have?

Medb is pouring herself some kind of cocktail when she sees Yuri. ]

Shall I wine and dine you today?

[ It's said more in jest than anything else. ]

[ sounds like a plan to me, they’re very classy people ]

If you’re in need of the distraction, then sure. Go ahead and make a guy feel special.

[ he will sit himself down at the bar, and rest his chin on his hands. his words are light, but his expression does look slightly concerned for her. how’s the queen holding on? ]

[ The queen is fine. Her feelings are still a little tangled from the weekend, but it's not something that's going to get her down.

She smiles at him, and it does seem genuine enough.

But during the summer, Medb is all about cocktails, so she's making something fruity but strong for the both of them. She gives Yuri a glass of water, too. ]

I don't need a distraction, but I won't mind one now. Today didn't end poorly.

[ It wasn't ideal, but it could've been a lot worse. ]

[ the queen continues, as a queen does. ]

You were clear about who you voted for, after all. It would've been... bad, if Yuel had died out there.

[ he's not going to pretend he's not... well. sad isn't the word. maybe he would've rather seen no one die for once. but here they all are.

he'll accept the drink with a "thank", though. ]

I would not have let it go, if Yuel were not the one to return.

[ That is a promise, as much as a threat. She doesn't think she'd be the only one, but she probably would have hidden the intention the least. ]

I have never been shy about my wants. I would have preferred it had it been me instead of her. Someone with her heart shouldn't have to go through that.

[aubins]

It's fine. She came back.

[ ... ]

I wonder what the criteria is for choosing. It's definitely not staying on a par with your opponent, or we'd never have had Shi facing down that robot a few weeks ago. It doesn't seem to care too much about connections either -- did Yuel and Law know each other?

[fergalicious]

I don’t think they talked much at all before today. I think it’s random. Whatever system is in place for the execution seems to pluck with no reason in mind.

[ it’s not like executioner is up for vote. ]

We can't even play that off fairly then. But we already knew that.

[ ... he just keeps thinking about sqx and hk-47 in that room, and how badly injured she was in the aftermath. ]

[ She laughs a little. ]

Yeah, I don't think there's much to call fair in that unless you count randomness fair. In the morbid kind of way that it could be anyone.

Some people would. But if there's a system surely it can be played, that's more the thought process.

[fergalicious]

I'd really like it if were a system that could be played. It'd make me feel a little less powerless.

[aubins]

Mm. I'm not a fan of having the situation so out of my hands, constantly.

[fergalicious]

Neither am I. It's more than frustrating to not have some control.

[aubins]

[ good to know they don't like to not be in control. ]

Just a little. I like having all the cards on the table and knowing the best route and options. Having it snatched away is... frustrating, honestly.

[fergalicious]

[ They are certainly people who handle things well. ]

We're limited in scope and resources. I'd say we're making the best of it that we can, but... thinking about what I can do elsewhere...

[ The comparison hurts a little. ]

[ plotters and planners are having a grand time ]

It's not like we've been able to stop a death before it happens. And the Avatars have been evasive whether or not we can actually have a week without a death, when I've asked. I don't know if it's like opening the floodgates and then not being able to close them again once they're open, or something else though.

[fergalicious]

That's what it seems like at this point. Once murder happened, it'll keep going until whenever we're supposed to be done.

[ She sighs. ]

I'm not unused to death, but this has so many extra whistles and bells to go with it.

[ It's also an understatement, but the point is she doesn't care for it. ]

New and increasingly difficult hoops to jump through every week. More people do actually kill, the more we all learn from it, for better or for worse.

[ ... ]

We can pick up on traits and patterns, only for the next person who gets a little kill happy to take an entirely different path and play into our expectations.

[fergalicious]

And the longer we're here, the more complications get thrown in, now that people are collecting Avatar-gifted abilities to use.

There will only be more distractions.

[aubins]

So we have the powers we all know about and secret powers that come as a surprise. Really helps things, doesn't it?

[fergalicious]

[ She laughs. ]

Yeah. It makes things very clear and obvious.

[aubins]

Guess that means we need to add "figuring out what the other powers are" to our ever growing list.

[fergalicious]

Do you think if we straight up asked an Avatar for a list of powers out there, they'd be willing to give it to us?

[aubins]

I'm not sure. Greed was... evasive about saying how many extra powers were in play, so I'm not sure they'd be willing to just out all the powers.

[ ... ]

I guess they have their element of surprise as well.

[fergalicious]

[ She hums. ]

Guess that would make it a little too easy, huh?
