[ the laughter dies to down to snickering, now, pleased. ]
Those things were quite strong, weren't they? Packed more of a punch than I expected. Overall, not a bad substitute, if impossible for powering anything.
Mhm. [ gu yun flops backwards into the bean bag chair again, remembering his failure. boo ]
It's called Ziliujin. It's a very rare, nonrenewable substance you can burn to create power. A nation with natural deposits of ziliujin is said to be sitting on gold. [ a beat, and he laughs. ] It's purple in color, so I do see the connection.
[ he's only teasing, though. with them all coming from different worlds... and with ziliujin being basic, common knowledge, it doesn't bother him at all. ]
It's a power source, like I said. The majority of the army uses weaponry powered by ziliujin, and it powers most of the transportation, too. From as big as a Giant Kite to as small as a steam lamp - though, it's so rare, using it on a steam lamp would be excessive. Not everyone has magic like you all do, you know!
[ ... actually. he takes the sharpie, thoughtfully, and looks around, pulling himself up from his bean bag chair to go poke around through the rec room games. there are pads of paper for p*ctionary or something in here, so he fetches one and comes back, dropping on the floor to start to draw a version of this, though much less detailed. a big ship, not too dissimilar from the ones you might see in the water, but with eight massive dragon heads mounted across the front. he sketches them out with a decent amount of skill, and then taps the paper with the pen. ]
Giant Kite. [ wow. ] It's a ship that flies through the air. The ziliujin powers through here, here, and here - and moves the inside, or something along those lines. Don't ask me the details, I'm not an engineer, and I don't fly them.
[ a bit dryly; ] Well, I never considered someone could turn their shoes to licorice with magic spells, so, I suppose we're even.
[ gu yun caps the sharpie, setting it back down. ] A machine's the right word. I'm guessing you're going to tell me dragons are real, in your realm, now, is that right?
Oh, it's not all its cracked up to be. Gods are often a bit too wrapped up in their own goals, even when they are the head of one of the foremost powers of the continent.
Which is pretty much why there's a war going on right now. Leader of the state isn't exactly accurate though. Each "state" has a leader, and the Church of Seiros is a neutral power... but it's also the greatest religious power in Fodlan.
[ you see the issue, right? ]
Some people agree with it, other people don't. And--- [ he claps his hands together, loud and obnoxious ]--- then you get a conflict. Among other reasons.

Sort of like your 'sharpie'. I suppose you could use that for eyeliner, but I imagine one might quickly regret it.

The smell alone would put me off using that thing on my face. You know when something just smells so much you know it's going to suck? [ yeah ]

Well, I know what those are at least. [ he taps the sketch marks that make up the dragon heads, before leaning back again. ]
Flying ... machines? Powered by some kind of fuel source. I don't think I'd have even considered that was something possible.
